Advanced Practice Provider IV - PRN - Acute Care Surgery/Trauma/Critical Care | Downtown | Days
Join the team at University of Florida Jacksonville Physicians, Inc. as a direct patient care provider licensed in the State of Florida and/or Georgia, working under the supervision of a physician.
OverviewAn APP IV provides medical services to patients as defined by their scope of practice in inpatient, ICU, labor & delivery, and emergency department settings. The role requires more than 50% inpatient hospital-based patient care.
Responsibilities- Performs or assists with higher complexity procedures in office, inpatient, OR, or ED, including first assist functions in the OR.
- Provides education and instruction to patients and staff.
- Monitors or manages medical/invasive devices and device placement within scope of practice.
- Conducts high-level evaluation and triage, patient histories, physical examinations, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, differential diagnoses, ordering ancillary studies, and medical decision-making.
- Formulates comprehensive health management plans with physicians, pharmacists, and other professionals; documents progress notes, discharge summaries, and consults.
- Contributes to program development, quality improvement projects, and research activities as appropriate; participates in professional development and brings innovation to practice.
- Documents clinical information accurately and timely in the patient’s medical record per compliance billing guidelines.
- Educates and counsels patients/families on health maintenance.
- Handles consults, discharge planning, and routine scheduling of procedures.
- Participates in interdisciplinary meetings, events, and committees.
- May be required to take call coverage.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Experience Requirements
- 2 years in Critical Care, Labor & Delivery, ED, or OR care settings (preferred).
Education Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Master’s degree in Nursing Practice or Physician Assistant program required.
Certification / Licensure
- Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA) licensure in FL/GA required at hire.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required at hire.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred.
- New grads in orthopedics must acquire DEA within 90 days of hire.
Other Requirements
- Travel up to 25%.
