Responsibilities
The Admissions Financial Counselor is responsible for verifying benefits and eligibility for each patient admission. Tasks include preparing benefit folders, collecting co‑pays/deductibles from patients/guarantors, assisting with establishing effective and timely payment plans, coordinating with utilization review or other applicable departments to limit the risk of non‑payment, providing ongoing patient benefit information, and correcting or verifying demographic information. This position also uses internal policies and external tools to assess ability to pay, then reports that data.
Assists Business Office Director with special projects or other duties as needed.
- Education:
High School Diploma with basic knowledge of bookkeeping or accounting - Experience:
At least 2-years of administrative experience in a healthcare setting - Additional Requirements:
Must be proficient with personal computers and Microsoft Excel or any combination of education, training or experience in a business office environment.
