Vaco is hiring for a Medical Coder in Jacksonville, Florida. The role requires a hybrid work environment with a one‑day‑in‑office commitment per week.

Overview

The Medical Coder is responsible for reviewing medical records and assigning the correct diagnosis and procedure codes. The coder must ensure coding accuracy, compliance, and that the documentation in the patient's chart supports the coding.

Responsibilities
  • Review physician documentation and assign the correct ICD‑10, CPT, and/or HCPCS codes.
  • Ensure coding is accurate and follows all required coding guidelines.
  • Review medical records to gather the information needed for coding.
  • Ask for clarification when physician documentation is incomplete, unclear, or does not support the code.
  • Stay current on coding guidelines, payer requirements, and reimbursement rules.
  • Maintain coding accuracy and meet productivity expectations.
  • Follow company policies, procedures, HIPAA, and compliance guidelines.
  • Attend coding meetings and complete continuing education as required.
  • Maintain active coding certification.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Coding certification such as CPC, CCS‑P, COSC, RHIT, or RHIA.
  • Working knowledge of ICD‑10‑CM, CPT, HCPCS, and payer guidelines.
