Overview
Reports directly to the designated immediate manager for the specific practice or outpatient department. Responsible for scheduling patient appointments. Interviews patients to obtain appropriate demographic and financial information. Registers patients and performs other registration functions. Obtains necessary signatures and documentation from patients for billing and insurance purposes. Orders laboratory tests and other tests via the computer system at the direction of the physicians.
Performs end-of-day disposition and gathers appropriate statistical information relating to patients. Announces the arrival of patients and answers incoming telephone calls for the department/practice. Serves as a liaison between patients, nurses, physicians, and others. Provides excellent customer service and greets patients entering the department/practice. This position is also responsible for processing referral requests for all providers practicing within the clinic module and ensuring that when needed, referral/authorization numbers are obtained for these services.

Provides services to patients across all age groups.
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Skills and Qualifications
Knowledge of insurance plans, policies, and applicable guidelines.
Ability to obtain insurance authorizations and pre-certifications as required.
Strong decision-making skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment and initiative.
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
Basic arithmetic skills necessary for cashiering and financial transactions.
Proficiency in data entry.
Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and organize workflow effectively.
Ability to manage stressful situations professionally while maintaining a high level of customer service.
Strong conflict-resolution and problem-solving skills.
Licensure/Certification s
Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT coding preferred.
Completion of a medical terminology or standard terminology course preferred but not required.
Minimum of two years of experience in a clinical office setting, with extensive experience in patient registration, front-desk operations, and insurance processes.
Demonstrated knowledge of insurance procedures and patient registration requirements.
