What

You'll Do:

You will assist management in administering all aspects of personnel staffing for vessels, including covering various fleet/vessel crewing needs in the absence of the regularly assigned Crewing Coordinator and/or Administrator. You will ensure mariners have the appropriate qualifications, coordinate timely and cost-effective travel, develop strategic crewing plans, forecast requirements, collaborate on training schedules, and provide professional development guidance. This role delivers timely, proactive customer service and communication to vessels, mariners, and internal Crowley stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in routine administrative functions such as discharges, service awards, PAN reports, presentations, and PowerPoint materials.
  • Participate in the development of crewing and crew travel budgets.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate personnel records in coordination with other company departments.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external organizations.
  • Provide functional advice or training to less experienced crewing personnel.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on crewing while working with minimal supervision.
  • Ensure vessels are crewed with qualified, physically fit, and capable mariners for all required positions.
  • Verify all crew documents and credentials.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance for all crew certifications (USCG, MLC, training, medical/drug free, customer/contract requirements).
  • Coordinate timely and cost-effective crew travel to and from vessels.
  • Understand and apply multiple union contracts, customer requirements, and regulatory position requirements.
  • Identify discrepancies and expirations in personnel qualifications.
  • Assist in identifying training needs and developing training plans.
  • Support crew development and succession planning.
  • Forecast crew rotations based on mariner skill level, training, availability, and security clearance requirements.
  • Provide high quality customer service and direct communication regarding mariner assignments.
  • Interact with union hiring halls to dispatch mariners and assist in the union/employer grievance process.
  • Participate in contract negotiations and official events as required.
  • Support standardization and streamlining of departmental processes and training.
  • Produce reports on workforce, work utilization, and assignments as required.
  • Participate in unemployment hearings as necessary.
Qualifications Education & Credentials
  • High school diploma or equivalent, plus job related coursework.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business preferred.
  • 1–3 years of experience in marine crewing operations preferred.
  • Experience in a high-paced, detail- oriented role with strong communication and customer service skills.
