Data Engineer, Data Science Manager

Jacksonville, FL - Hybrid in-office schedule
$140-160k annually plus bonus
This role combines people leadership with deep hands on technical involvement. You will partner closely with senior leaders to design and deliver cloud based data solutions that support analytics, reporting, and advanced data initiatives. As a working manager, you will remain close to the technology by solving complex data problems, reviewing critical implementations, and setting engineering standards through direct contribution.
You will lead the evolution of a modern cloud data platform, including data lake and lakehouse architecture, scalable ELT pipelines, and reliable data products. The ideal candidate brings strong Databricks expertise, the ability to guide engineers through best practices, and the confidence to influence technical direction across teams and stakeholders.
Responsibilities- Lead the design and delivery of cloud native data engineering solutions for analytics and data science use cases
- Serve as a hands on technical leader contributing to complex Databricks implementations and architectural decisions
- Establish standards for data modeling, ELT pipelines, orchestration, and performance optimization
- Ensure reliability, security, and scalability of data platforms and pipelines
- Build, mentor, and retain a high performing data engineering team
- Collaborate with stakeholders to align data strategy with business priorities
- Strong experience with Azure based data platforms including Azure Databricks, Data Lake, Fabric, and Data Factory
- Deep hands on expertise in Databricks notebooks, workflows, and asset bundles
- Proficiency in Python, PySpark, and SQL
- Experience designing modern data architectures including lakehouse, streaming, and data mesh patterns
- Solid understanding of data governance, security, and performance tuning
