What You'll Do

You will be responsible for overseeing the operation and maintenance of MSC Squadron LAN/IT/Communication equipment installed and the associated reporting on the Military Sealift Command (MSC) T-AK vessels.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the care and control of the government communication and IT property in accordance with the Commander, MSC N6 instructions.
  • Audit the vessel communication and IT equipment to identify spare part inventory at time of turnover to establish inventory baselines.
  • Develop standing orders and watch standing procedures that are acceptable by the MSC squadron commander and ensure communication watch is maintained.
  • Order materials on the Navy supply systems as well as coordinating purchases from the commercial sources or other government agencies as required.
  • Oversee the management of the SIPRNET Tokens for the MSC Squadron staff, including acting as the trusted agent.
  • Perform as the liaison between the deployed communication detachment, the MSC Squadron Commander and the vessel master.
  • Submit periodic reports as required.
Qualifications
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, including conveying technical information to technical and non-technical users.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal/external business partners.
  • Ability to indirectly mentor, coach, train and/or supervise employees; ability to function effectively with, or as part of a team; ability to prepare, monitor and administer budgets, and perform financial analysis.
  • Ability to utilize problem solving skills; ability to provide subject matter expertise, counsel and effectively influence others at various levels within the organization.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply the principles and practices to strategically align tasks and people with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Knowledge of standard programming languages, concepts, practices and procedures; knowledge of training methodology and the ability to develop and facilitate technical/operational training; knowledge of need, trend, feasibility and performance assessments.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of project planning, development and evaluation, and ability to meet project deadlines.
Education & Credentials
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, business or a related field; or a combination of post high school and experience equal to 9 years.
  • US Citizenship in possession of US Passport
  • Active Secret Security Clearance
  • A+, NETWORK+, and SECURITY+ Certifications
Technical Skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Proficient in administering shipboard unclassified and classified LAN systems and knowledgeable of software utilized onboard MSC Vessels.
