Application Architect

Brooksource is currently seeking an Application Architect to work for our local Fortune 1000 P&C Insurance client located in the Jacksonville, FL office, with a focus on both internal and external applications. In this role, you will be responsible for providing architectural leadership across multiple development teams and collaborating closely with both IT and Business units to define roadmaps, solution architectures, detailed designs, and contribute to hands-on development efforts.

Responsibilities may also include vendor relationship management, product evaluations, strategic platform planning, and ensuring alignment with the company’s Dev Ops and Cloud strategies.

Responsibilities

• Work with Senior IT and Business Managers to design systems in alignment with Kemper’s strategic roadmap.
• Collaborate with development teams to design, support, and occasionally develop solutions for various Lines of Business.
• Lead and mentor teams through the early architecture and design phases of a development program and provide support during execution.
• Contribute to the modernization of UI frameworks using Angular to build scalable, user-centric interfaces.
• Collaborate with other members of the Enterprise Architecture team to evaluate current and emerging technologies.
• Participate in Proof-of-Concept efforts to evaluate platforms, tools, and software capabilities.
• Ensure architectural solutions support secure, scalable integration across on-prem, SaaS, and cloud environments.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of application development experience
• Proven experience in designing and developing large-scale enterprise applications in a technical lead, solution architect, or application architect role
• Strong front-end development and architecture experience using Angular (v10+)
• Expertise with backend technologies such as Java, Spring Framework, Postgres SQL, and No

• Experience operating in an enterprise cloud environment (AWS preferred)
• Familiarity with cloud-native services such as Lambda, API Gateway, EKS, and cloud data platforms is a plus
• Proficiency with CI/CD tools and pipelines (Jenkins is a plus)
• Experience working in a hybrid technology environment with a mix of On-Premises, Cloud, and SaaS applications
• Experience supporting integrated systems with third-party APIs
• Comfortable working in Agile environments and utilizing tools like Jira and Confluence
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience presenting to technical and business audiences
• Application performance analysis and tuning experience
