Assistant Operations Manager

Mattress Firm is seeking an Assistant Operations Manager to support our Supply Chain, Logistics & Procurement department in the retail mattress industry. You will help oversee daily warehouse and distribution operations, optimize inventory flow, and coordinate with vendors and internal teams to ensure on-time, accurate deliveries. Responsibilities include monitoring KPIs, supporting process improvements, assisting with budgeting, and leading and coaching frontline staff.

Responsibilities

• Support the Operations Manager in overseeing daily supply chain, logistics, and procurement activities for Mattress Firm retail locations and distribution centers.
• Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments to ensure timely delivery of mattresses, bedding, and accessories to stores and customers.
• Monitor inventory levels across stores and warehouses, helping to maintain optimal stock and minimize stockouts or overstock situations.
• Assist with demand planning and replenishment activities by reviewing sales trends, promotions, and seasonal needs.
• Work closely with suppliers, carriers, and third-party logistics partners to track orders, resolve issues, and maintain service-level expectations.
• Help manage purchase orders, receiving processes, and documentation accuracy in ERP and warehouse management systems.
• Analyze operational data and KPIs (such as order accuracy, on-time delivery, and inventory turns) to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
• Support process improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, cost reduction, and enhanced customer experience in the retail supply chain.
• Collaborate with store leadership and sales teams to prioritize urgent orders and special customer requests while maintaining service quality.
• Assist with staffing coordination, task assignment, and training support for warehouse and logistics teams as directed by the Operations Manager.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and operational procedures within distribution and store backroom operations.
• Participate in cross-functional projects with merchandising, finance, and sales to support new product launches and promotions.
• Prepare regular operational reports and updates for management, highlighting risks, issues, and recommended actions.
