Supervisor, Ordnance Program Summary
The Marine Corps Prepositioning Program (MCPP) is based in Jacksonville, Florida. We provide maintenance and logistical services to the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) in support of this program. For over 35 years we have planned, coordinated, and executed the maintenance and logistical services for ground combat vehicles and support equipment for USMC Expeditionary Forces.
Job SummarySupervises and coordinates the activities of employees who are performing a wide variety of mechanical duties on artillery weapons and a variety of combustion‑powered light and heavy‑duty vehicles (i.e., light armored, amphibious assault, tracked vehicles, HMMWV, JLTV, utility trailers, etc.) designed for combat, ship loading, or other special applications.
Responsibilities- Oversees the activities of workers engaged in servicing, storing, and repairing artillery weapons & sights and workers engaged in servicing and repairing LAV, AAV, JLTV, HMMWV, & trailers.
- Determines sequence and assignment of work on basis of work priority and quantity to obtain optimal use of equipment, facilities, and personnel, and supporting tools and special test equipment.
- Responsible for equipment readiness, maintenance shop organizations, control of maintenance assets and providing advice on all matters relating to ordnance and MT type maintenance.
- Ensures mechanics are properly trained in all maintenance functions.
- Keeps inventory of repair parts and equipment and requisitions replacement stock.
- Inspects work performed to ensure compliance with specifications and time schedules.
- Interprets specifications, drawings, work orders, technical instructions, and layouts.
- Coordinates department activities with other departments.
- Ensures compliance with administrative policies, procedures, and governmental regulations.
- Ensures employees adhere to all safety requirements, procedures, and policies.
- Supervises and manages the administration of work space for ordnance and MT type equipment repair.
- Recommends changes to procedures as appropriate.
- Recommends or initiates personnel actions, such as promotions, transfers, discharges, and disciplinary actions.
- Trains new workers.
- Complies with and ensures compliance with all MPF ISO-9002 policies and procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Must hold MOS code in Ordnance or MT for a minimum of 6 months, and complete the ordnance or MT course.
- Thorough working knowledge of the mechanical makeup, operation, and working relationships of heavy‑duty systems, assemblies, and parts, including major systems such as diesel, multifuel, supercharged/turbocharged engines, turbine engines, automatic/manual transmissions, and gear reduction systems.
- Working knowledge of electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic, and other non‑mechanical systems which have a functional relationship and effect on the operation of mechanical systems.
