Purpose of Job

Manage the safe, efficient, and cost‑effective operation of stowing, discharging, and loading of TOTE Maritime chartered vessels. Develop and maintain appropriate business relationships with service providers, respective port authorities, customers, regulatory bodies, and other business units.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage all aspects of cargo operations and required elements of vessel operations and vessel port calls, including planning, regulatory notifications, reports, and documentation.
  • Report activity to Director of Operations and otherwise assist as needed.
  • Manage responsibilities, training, and leadership development of Cargo Operations Superintendents. Assist in the mentorship, development, and cross‑training of other TOTE employees as applicable.
  • Coordinate with VSO and administer vessel security plans as required.
  • Manage development of Capital and Operational Budgets for port and stevedoring activities.
  • Manage labor orders for cargo operations.
  • Coordinate vessel schedules with Terminal Operations Manager to ensure both operations are effectively staffed. Report all delays and significant events through appropriate channels.
  • Oversee stowage requirements and vessel stability, stress, and trim calculations for all Jacksonville port calls. Perform these same duties for other port calls as required.
  • Coordinate all vessel planning and operations with Port Engineers and Ship’s Management.
  • Manage proper execution of cargo securing with the Stevedore and coordinate Not‑In‑Container (NIC) shipments with the Terminal Operations Manager.
  • Manage bulk fructose operations and LNG bunkering as required.
  • Analyze and report weekly cost and key performance indicators (KPI) related to vessel and cargo operations. Drive cost savings where possible.
  • Manage planning and operational field support for vessel charters in various ports as well as support for special projects as required.
  • Maintain and distribute damage reports involving cargo operations to Risk Management.
  • Manage the Continuous Improvement Program and key initiatives regarding cargo operations.
  • Adhere to the Integrated Management System that covers Quality, Environmental, and Safety ISO (International Organization for Standardization) certificates.
  • Ensure departmental alignment with Company Policies.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervise the cargo operations staff and ensure alignment with department/ company goals and objectives. Carry out all other supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assists the Company in any necessary duties to achieve Company goals.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned, unless in conflict with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Authority Selections:
Little or no direct supervision. A wide choice in selection, development and coordination of methods within broad framework of general policies.

Mistakes and errors in judgment are significant, difficult to detect, involving major expenditures, may involve the preparation or presentation of data on which management bases important decisions.

This position involves regular work with some information of major importance, which if disclosed may be detrimental to the company's interests.

Financial Responsibility Selections:
Purchases supplies necessary for performance of personal or immediate work group’s job functions.
