The Opportunity
Our client is seeking a Heavy Haul Operations Manager to lead daily operations supporting oversized and overweight (OS/OW) transportation projects. This leadership role is responsible for managing team performance, optimizing operational processes, collaborating with cross-functional departments, and ensuring every project is executed safely, efficiently, and on time.
You’ll work alongside sales, permitting, billing, and operations teams while helping improve processes that support long‑term business growth.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and develop a team responsible for heavy haul transportation operations.
- Manage daily workflow, staffing, scheduling, and overall team performance.
- Oversee complex oversized and overweight freight projects from planning through delivery.
- Partner with Sales to review project scope, pricing, and operational feasibility.
- Coordinate with internal departments to ensure projects remain on schedule and customers receive exceptional service.
- Identify operational risks and implement solutions that improve efficiency and productivity.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that streamline workflows and reduce manual processes.
- Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, permitting requirements, company policies, and industry best practices.
- Monitor operational KPIs and maintain accurate reporting and documentation.
- Foster a culture built on accountability, collaboration, safety, and customer satisfaction.
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in heavy haul, specialized transportation, or complex logistics operations.
- Minimum of 3 years of leadership or supervisory experience.
- Strong knowledge of oversized and overweight (OS/OW) transportation, routing, permitting, and specialized equipment.
- Experience managing multiple transportation projects simultaneously.
- Strong leadership, communication, and conflict‑resolution skills.
- Ability to build relationships across operations, sales, billing, and customer teams.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- PMP, Lean Six Sigma, or similar project management certifications are a plus.
