Manual/Conventional Machine Shop Machinist
Talent Consultant Group is partnered with an inspection, overhaul, and repair company that is looking to add a Manual/Conventional Machine Shop Machinist to their growing team in Jacksonville, FL.
This role applies knowledge of mechanics, shop math, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures to set-up and operate a variety of machine shop tools to produce precision parts.
Responsibilities:
- Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of math and instruments such as micrometers, verniers, and gauges.
- Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.
- Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machine work.
- Measure, examine, and test completed units for defects and ensure conformance to specifications.
- Read work orders and/or production schedules to determine specifications, such as material to be used, location of cutting lines, and dimension and tolerances.
- Set-up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools to perform precision machining operations.
- Start and run machines, monitor their operations, and record operational data.
- Adjust machine speeds, feeds, and actions, according to product and material specifications.
- Operate Forklifts and cranes.
- Use of torches, grinders and multiple power tools.
- Maintain a clean, safe, working environment.
- Support other areas of the shop as needed.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- 1-5 years' experience in a manufacturing/repair environment.
- Basic machinist / mechanic tools.
- Ability to organize work assignments to ensure efficient operations within the area.
- Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner to achieve intended objective.
- Ability to read and use related quality control tools such as vernier calipers, micrometers, indicators, and tape measures.
- Good organizational skills.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time and in environments that require frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
- Basic computer skills
