Job Overview

Production Worker II – 1st Shift (Onsite) at Collins Aerospace, Jacksonville, FL (Busch Dr). Responsible for producing composite parts for naval vessels under the Engineered Polymer Products (EPP) division.

• Work closely with 10–20 other Composite Technicians under the supervision of a Working Lead and Production Supervisor to bring essential naval products to life.
• Judgment and decisions are guided by clearly described procedures and instructions; the work consists of recurring steps involved in the assembly of parts, subassemblies, and larger components.
• Perform tasks by following clearly described procedures and instructions for the assembly of parts, subassemblies, and larger components.
• Perform casting of materials to fabricate parts and/or for repair applications using products and processes that are varied but generally not complex in scope.
• Fabricate polyurethane and related materials into subassemblies for pre‑fitting in preparation for bonding.
• Load and operate presses, ovens, and autoclaves according to equipment requirements and operational sequences.
• Layout, pre‑fit, assemble, and cast polyurethane and related materials on a variety of molds and surfaces.
• Verify work to ensure a defect‑free part before presenting to quality control (inspection).
• Provide specialized technical assistance and interact with team members to implement solutions.
• Operate large manual, electric, and pneumatic tools in the assembly and disassembly of large heavy steel structures, molds, and fixtures.
• Read and interpret standard work to perform necessary tasks.
• Identify tooling and materials compatible with the processing techniques identified in the work instructions.
• Apply production‑tooling skills.
• Be available for overtime when required to meet project schedule.
• Cross‑train within the department and support various manufacturing operations.
• Frequently lift parts and equipment that weigh up to 20 pounds (occasionally up to 40 pounds with mechanical lifting devices).
• Work outdoors at a limited capacity to meet project schedule.
• Engage in various physical activities, including standing and kneeling, and perform tasks at elevated heights using ladders, platforms, and harnesses.
• Use computers to record data (Excel) and track time (Autotime).
• Must have or be willing and able to obtain certification to operate a powered industrial vehicle (forklifts, etc.).

• Typically requires an HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g., G.E.D.) or vocational/technical education in a related discipline with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
• Must either have or be willing to obtain certification to operate a powered industrial vehicle (forklifts, etc.).
• 2+ years experience in a manufacturing, industrial environment, or assembly labor position preferred.
• 2+ years experience in composite or rubber manufacturing highly preferred.
• Prior aerospace/marine industry experience preferred.
