Position: Sr Maintenance Technician-Nights (Filler)

Position Overview

The Sr. Maintenance Technician ensures equipment uptime through timely, in-depth troubleshooting and repair of all equipment failures. The role acts as a subject‑matter expert for one or more production equipment areas (injection molders, blow molders, fillers/cappers, labelers, case packers, conveyors, palletizers, stretch wrappers, chillers, air compressors, Reverse Osmosis, water filtration, and general plant maintenance). The technician collaborates closely with Maintenance Technicians, Operators, Supervisors, and Managers to resolve mechanical issues, drive continuous improvement, and provide training.

Functions
  • Adhere to and enforce highest safety and good manufacturing practices across the plant.
  • Train and lead Operators, Mechanics, and Supervisors on technical procedures related to high‑speed bottle manufacturing and packaging.
  • Work directly with plant leadership to develop and execute projects involving continuous improvement, upgrades, and the resolution of recurrent problems.
  • Rapidly identify machine problems to minimize downtime, conducting root‑cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
  • Partner with other Sr. Maintenance Technicians to resolve cross‑functional problems.
  • Use software systems to analyze and identify issues, driving throughput performance.
  • Define requirements and lead overhaul efforts to rebuild equipment to like‑new status during planned downtime.
  • Transfer knowledge to Niagara team members, developing operating and troubleshooting procedures for bottling production specializations (blow molding, filling/capping, labeling, dry‑end packaging, injection technology).
  • Set up machines for all pack size changes and maintain OEM equipment (Krones, Sidel, KHS, Sacmi, Tech).
  • Create SOPs for troubleshooting machines and upload them to the BDA system; take responsibility for machine reliability and MTBF.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance, including required on‑call availability, to ensure equipment and facility uptime.
  • Stand or walk for extended periods in a manufacturing environment; lift up to 50 lbs.; possess own toolbox and basic tools.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in a maintenance manufacturing environment or a related role.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in a senior technical position.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience managing people or projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and resolve issues across multiple departments and levels.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.
  • Skilled in shop equipment (hydraulic and mechanical presses, bench grinder, drill press, mill and lathe, power tools).
  • Proficient with precision measuring equipment (calipers, dial indicators, bore and depth gauges).
  • Willingness to serve as a technical leader and trainer within a specific area of the plant or machine center.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in a maintenance manufacturing environment.
  • 10+ years in a senior technical position.
  • 6 years of experience managing people or projects.
  • At least 4 years of experience in blow molding, injection molding, packaging, or beverage processing.
  • 4 years of experience with Krones, Husky, Sidel, or other bottling equipment.
  • 1 year of experience leading and developing others on equipment functionality and repair.
  • 2 years of experience creating process improvements or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Skilled in fabrication capabilities (cutting, welding MIG/TIG/stick).
