Position Summary
Perform a basic to advanced level skilled work to accomplish sheet metal repairs and replacements of structural parts. Fabricate replacement covering, panels, or fairings by using the removed parts as samples. Reads and complies with instructions and safety information as necessary for proper and safe completion of assigned work.

- Cleans corrosion and treats metal surfaces per the manufacturer’s instructions and specifications.
- Performs basic sheet metal repairs and replacement of structural parts, including measuring, cutting, forming, assembling by bolting, screwing, and riveting, and determining fastener types by symbol.
- Repairs minor or secondary structure per the manufacturer’s SRM.
- Fabricates replacement covering, panels, or fairings using removed parts as samples.
- Performs repairs of a cosmetic nature in passenger cabin interiors.
- Performs bonding repairs of honeycomb structures as instructed.
- Identifies the locations of pressurized areas of the aircraft.
- Opens and closes areas on the aircraft that are required to be open for inspection.
- Applies corrosion preventatives and maintains knowledge of areas where corrosion-inhibiting liquids may not be applied.
- Possesses working knowledge of ATA Codes (Chapter and Subchapters), aircraft zones, narrow and wide body airframe familiarization, and industry standards.
- Reads maintenance manuals to identify and locate aircraft components and accurately implements instructions.
- Identifies the structural composition of aircraft (e.g., aluminum or composite) prior to performing any work on the structure.
- Reads instructions and safety information as necessary for proper and safe completion of assigned work.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- English language proficiency:
Read, speak, write, and understand. - Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certificate preferred;
Airframe Familiarization (FAM) course certificates preferred. - Valid driver’s license.
- Minimum 18 months of relevant experience with narrow and wide body airframe techniques, terminology, parts, etc.
- Technical skills: daily transactions within Flightstar’s ERP system, vending (POU), and research of customer maintenance manuals.
- Required physical skills: lifts and carries hand tools, parts, and work materials; ascends and descends ladders and platforms; frequently works in positions such as stooping, kneeling, or squatting.
