Industrial Painter – Heavy Equipment Manufacturing
We are seeking experienced Industrial Painters to work in a heavy equipment manufacturing environment in Green Cove Springs, FL.
This position is responsible for preparing and painting heavy equipment, fabricated metal components, and assemblies throughout the manufacturing process.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Prepare heavy equipment, machinery, and fabricated metal components for painting.
- Clean and prepare metal surfaces by sanding, grinding, scraping, wiping, or other approved preparation methods.
- Remove dirt, grease, rust, scale, and other contaminants before applying coatings.
- Mask or protect areas that are not to be painted.
- Mix paints, primers, coatings, and related materials according to specifications.
- Apply primers, paints, and protective coatings using industrial spray equipment.
- Operate conventional spray guns, pressure pots, airless or air-assisted spray equipment as applicable.
- Apply coatings evenly and according to required thickness and finish specifications.
- Inspect painted surfaces for proper coverage, adhesion, appearance, runs, overspray, or other defects.
- Perform touch-up painting and correct coating defects as needed.
- Clean and maintain spray guns, hoses, paint equipment, and related tools.
- Move or position parts and equipment as required during the painting process.
- Work around large fabricated components and heavy manufacturing equipment.
- Follow production specifications, work orders, and quality standards.
- Properly handle, label, store, and dispose of paints, solvents, coatings, and related materials.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Wear required respiratory protection and other PPE when applicable.
- Follow all company safety procedures and requirements for handling paints, coatings, solvents, and other chemicals.
- Perform additional production and painting duties as assigned.
- Previous industrial painting or manufacturing painting experience preferred.
- Experience painting heavy equipment, machinery, structural steel, fabricated metal, automotive equipment, trailers, or similar products is highly desirable.
- Experience using industrial spray-painting equipment.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and work in different positions while painting equipment.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds as required.
- Ability to safely use ladders, platforms, or approved work surfaces when required.
- Ability to use spray equipment and hand tools for extended periods.
- Ability to work around large equipment, fabricated metal components, and moving manufacturing equipment.
- Must be able to wear required PPE, which may include safety glasses, gloves, protective clothing, hearing protection, and respiratory protection.
This position is performed in an industrial heavy equipment manufacturing environment. Employees may be exposed to paint fumes, solvents, dust, noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures. Required ventilation systems and PPE must be used in accordance with facility safety procedures.
