The Role
As the Senior Officer for Individual Philanthropy, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our mission to help vulnerable children build brighter futures. You'll be responsible for cultivating and expanding a robust portfolio of major donors across Florida, the Southeast, and up through Western Pennsylvania-including the Washington, DC metro area.
With a strong commitment to donor stewardship, you will deepen relationships with existing supporters while strategically identifying and engaging new prospects. Your work will span the full donor lifecycle-from identification and cultivation to solicitation and stewardship-ensuring a dynamic and sustainable pipeline of philanthropic support.
This role requires an entrepreneurial mindset and a familiarity with major markets in the region. You'll also be responsible for securing planned gifts when appropriate, and for driving new business development efforts to grow our major gift program.

Donor Relationship Management and Growth (50%)
- Develop, maintain, and upgrade relationships with existing major donors in Florida and through the Southeast up to Western Pennsylvania, inclusive of the Washington, DC metro area.
- Working with the Officer of Research and Prospect Management, identify prospective major donors in our database that are giving below capacity.
- Utilizing networks and research, identify and cultivate prospective major donors who are not current or past Save the Children donors.
- Working collaboratively with other members of the philanthropy team, including Planned Giving, to implement appropriate cultivation and stewardship actions to qualify new prospects, develop relationships, and execute strategies for solicitation.
- As needed, work with VIP donors and Board members.
Donor Strategy (20%)
- Develop donor cultivation and solicitation strategies, make ongoing assessments about their efficacy, and modify fundraising strategies as needed, to meet annual revenue targets as well as planned giving targets.
- Prepare strategy, briefing and debriefing documentation for virtual and in-person prospect and donor meetings.
Fundraising Events/Field Travel (10%)
- Participate in the development and execution of exclusive cultivation events and field program travel.
- Represent Save the Children at key virtual and local events.
Constituent Records Management (10%)
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records in the fundraising database.
- Track progress using the major gifts team's custom reports.
Stakeholder/Agency Engagement (10%)
- Establish and maintain strategic relationships with colleagues in Marketing and Growth, program staff in both U.S. Programs and International Programs, and members of other departments at Save the Children.
- Perform other duties including working on special projects and possibly management of interns or other volunteer staff.
Required qualifications for the role
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, plus at least 7 years of relevant experience.
- Proven ability to increase donor giving and build relationships with a variety of constituents including high net worth individuals.
- Demonstrated successful track record of raising five to seven-figure gifts and planned gifts.
- Proven creative thinking capability to develop engagement strategies with maximum impact.
- Demonstrated successful listener with ability to understand the needs and motivations of others, find common ground and synthesize information into compelling narratives.
- Demonstrated successful strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency on social media platforms and willingness to help elevate the visibility of Save the Children through re-postings and Linked In presence.
- Ability to pivot quickly to execute immediate and custom donor outreach during major humanitarian emergencies.
- Self-starter able to manage deliverables against annual revenue and activity targets.
- Proven organizational skills, detail orientation and discipline in stewarding donor information and database records.
- Entrepreneurial knowledge and expertise with the ability to stay on the pulse of philanthropic trends.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally. Travel in the assigned region is required to meet with donors face to face.
- Professional proficiency in MS Office suite.
