Job Summary

Baptist Health is looking for a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at our Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville location. This is a PRN, Days position. The role has a call requirement and is self‑scheduled based on department needs, requiring a 40‑minute call response time. It qualifies for competitive differentials and additional call compensation.

As an RN in the PACU, your daily responsibilities will include monitoring post‑operative patients’ recovery and consciousness from anesthesia, treating pain, nausea, and other post‑operative symptoms, and administering medication as prescribed. You will also regularly check vital signs to address any potential issues quickly. Educating patients and their families on post‑surgery care, updating charts, patient files, and medical records will be an important aspect of this role.

• Providing for patient needs through the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) and the organizational mission statement.
• Supervising care provided by supportive personnel and coordinating care provided by ancillary services.
• Involving patients and significant others/families in developing an individualized care plan.
• Educating patients, their families, and significant others about the disease process and care plan.
• Coordinating and preparing the assigned room/case, assessing patient care needs, and anticipating case requirements.
• Participating in call rotation.

• Education Required:
  
  Bachelor’s Degree – Nursing.
• Education Preferred:
  Master’s Degree – Nursing.
• Experience:
  
  2–3 years Surgical Services experience.
• Experience:
  
  2–3 years Critical Care Nursing experience.

• Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – Preferred.
• Conscious Sedation Certification – Preferred.
• Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) – Preferred or.
• Certified Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) – Preferred or.
• Licensed Registered Nurse – Required.
