Cardiothoracic Surgery Advanced Practice Provider (APP) classified as Level IV surgical position covering operating room, ICU, step down unit, and outpatient clinic.

• OR responsibilities: first assist in cardiac and thoracic surgery cases, endoscopic vein harvest, open vein harvest, radial artery harvest.
• Hospital responsibilities:
  Preoperative admissions, consultations, medical optimization/ management, ICU, step down, and discharges.
• Outpatient clinic responsibilities: new consults, established patient care, postoperative follow up visits, and coordination of follow up care with other services.

• Surgical first assist
• Obtaining patient history
• Performing physical examinations
• Ordering and performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
• Formulating a diagnostic impression
• Developing and implementing a treatment plan
• Monitoring effectiveness of therapeutic interventions
  
  Offering counseling and education to meet patient needs
• Making appropriate referrals
• Prescribing and dispensing prescription medication in accordance with FL state laws and department policies
• Performing minor procedures and surgical procedures
• Demonstrates ability to assess data reflective of patient's status and appropriately interprets information relative to patient's age-specific needs.
• Assist with ongoing departmental process improvement and policy development
• Other departmental or institutional committee assignments as needed.

New Grads will not be considered at this time. Minimum 2 years’ NP/PA experience preferably in cardiac and/or thoracic surgery.

Masters-prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program. Current FL RN and APRN license and certification as a FNP, ANP, ACNP.

Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the FL State Board of Medical Practice.

• Must have surgical first assist experience in the operating room.
• Active BLS and ACLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross at start date and DEA registration required.
