Purpose

of Position

The Occupational Health Nurse oversees employee health case management and coordinates care with providers to support recovery and return to work after injury or illness. Reporting to EHS, this role collaborates with HR, Worker’s Comp, and site leadership. Responsibilities include administering first aid, assessing the need for further care or medical assessment, case management, audiometric scheduling, reviewing respirator medical questionnaire evaluations, fit‑for‑duty evaluations, ergonomic assessments, and health education initiatives.

The nurse will follow defined occupational health programs and policies. Prior experience in occupational health within manufacturing or field operations is required. Strong clinical judgment, organizational, and documentation skills are essential. This is an on‑site role based in Jacksonville.

Essential Functions
  • Provide medical care, triage for injured/ill employees in the Jacksonville facilities.
  • Coordinate care, follow‑up appointments, restrictions and return to work between employees, HR and local established occupational health providers.
  • Participate in evaluations with EHS for work‑relatedness determinations.
  • Coordinate medical monitoring related to noise exposure or respiratory protection.
  • Wellness program coordination with HR including development wellness educational campaigns.

  • Works effectively and communicates clearly with HR, EHS, Worker’s Comp coordinators, and leadership.
  • Manages sensitive health or return‑to‑work discussions with professionalism and empathy.
  • Manages multiple cases and administrative duties efficiently.
  • Keeps current with occupational health best practices and emerging workplace health trends.
  • Upholds ethical nursing standards and builds trust with employees and management.
  • Responds effectively to changing environments, priorities, and health challenges.
  • Promotes a culture of health and safety across the organization.
  • Designs and delivers employee health and safety education programs.
  • Acts as a liaison between workers, supervisors, and healthcare providers to promote health and wellness.
Education and Experience
  • Registered nurse licensed in one of the Nursing License Compact states.
  • Occupational health nurse certification including COHN, COHN‑S or CM.
  • 3–5 years occupational health experience.
  • Detailed case management, excellent observational and triage skills.
  • Able to maintain composure and work effectively under emergency situations.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA Recordkeeping standard and industrial health standards.
  • Employee health experience.
  • Able to conduct evaluations or assessments of work activities in facilities wearing PPE (safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves as needed).
  • Current, certified Red Cross First Aid and AED trainer a plus.
  • Exempt employees may be required to work more hours than a standard 40‑hour week; thorough compliance knowledge.
Physical Demands
  • Lifting:
    Continuously lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Bending:
    Must be able to bend, squat, and climb.
Mental Demands

Interpret, analyze, research and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Environment

Shop/warehouse. Not climate controlled. Exposure to excessive heat and cold, wet/humid conditions, noise/vibration, hazards, dust and fumes.
