Nurse RN Operating Room

Position: Nurse RN Operating Room FT Days
Overview:
The Perioperative Registered Nurse (RN) provides nursing care to surgical patients utilizing the nursing process and the standards of care of a professional nurse. The RN is expected to perform all staff nurse activities and functions as charge nurse when assigned. The RN maintains overall accountability/responsibility for assigned patients, even though some activities /tasks may be delegated to Surgical Technologists, Patient Care Associated, Guest Associates and Anesthesia Technologists.

Education:

Associates' degree. Specific course work:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. New hires effective June 14, 2017, must have a BSN degree from an accredited school of nursing within three (3) years of hire or transfer into the position. New hires or transfers into in the position between August 1, 2013 and June 13, 2017 must abide with the conditions in his or her offer letter and the verbiage in the job description signed upon hire or transfer into the position.

Current employees who were hired or transferred into the position prior to August 1, 2013 will be grandfathered.

Preferred Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and Specialty Certification. :
Required Licensure/

Certifications:

Licensed to practice nursing in the state of Florida BLS from the American Heart Association is required Effective March 19, 2024 ACLS and PALS are not required. Preferred Licensure/

Certifications:

Professional Specialty Certification Preferred. ACLS PALS

Required Experience:

PACU Nurses need a minimum of 1 year critical care (ICU/ED) experience. OR Perioperative Fellows can be new graduate nurses that may apply to the program. OR Nurses need 1-2 years of related OR experience.

Preferred Experience:

2+ years of relevant perioperative nursing experience Necessary

3. Adapts quickly and easily to change and adjusted behavior and approach to work when necessary to achieve goals
4. Adheres to hospital and Florida Nurse Practice Act guidelines in providing patient care.
5. Familiar with medical/surgical equipment used in patient care environment
