Position Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) delivers safe, patient-centered care utilizing the nursing process and professional nursing standards. The RN is responsible and accountable for the overall coordination and delivery of care for assigned patients, including delegation of appropriate tasks to support personnel. The RN may also serve in a charge nurse role as assigned and provides care to patients across all age groups based on developmental and clinical needs.
Key Responsibilities- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care utilizing the nursing process.
- Coordinate care and collaborate with physicians, interdisciplinary team members, patients, and families.
- Delegate and supervise patient care activities performed by Technical Nurses, Patient Care Associates, and Sitters.
- Maintain accountability for assigned patient outcomes and quality of care.
- Serve as Charge Nurse when assigned.
- Accurately document patient care and comply with regulatory and organizational standards.
- Utilize clinical technology and electronic medical record systems to support patient care delivery.
- Demonstrate professionalism, effective communication, and teamwork in all interactions.
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Associate Degree in Nursing required.
- New hires effective June 14, 2017, must obtain a BSN within three (3) years of hire or transfer into the position.
- Current Florida RN license or eligibility for Florida licensure.
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross required on the first day of employment.
- Less than one year of related nursing experience required.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- One (1) year of clinical nursing experience.
- Specialty nursing certification.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Ability to learn and effectively utilize healthcare technologies and electronic documentation systems.
- Commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality patient care.
Certain specialty units require ACLS, PALS, NRP, CPI, or other advanced certifications at hire or within designated time frames based on department requirements.
