Job Description

The RN will provide occupational health nursing, medical, and integrated services consistent with the policies and written guidelines of the Occupational Health program. Services are provided under the mentorship or supervision of a Sr. Occupational Health Nurse or under the general direction of the designated physician, as required by law.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide nursing services and emergency (first-aid) treatments to employees who become ill or suffer an accident on company premises, arranging for transportation to another care provider if needed. Notify all concerned.

Under supervision of a physician and per written protocols, administer OTC medication and perform minor treatments or therapies for injured or ill employees. Administer injections for First Responders (Hepatitis

B) or, in an emergency, administer epi pin for severe allergic responses to an antigen per written protocols.

Provide preventive health evaluations and tests in accordance with the company Health Services program protocols.

Conduct health profiles, evaluations, and other services within the integrated employee Health Services & Resources strategy, including health promotion education, health screenings, and urine drug screenings.

Comply with policies, procedures, written standing orders, protocols, and medical directives as required by the company and State Nurse Practice Act.

Maintain accurate clinical records using approved medical, nursing, and statistical formats, including computer technology.

Advise and counsel employees within areas of core competency and make appropriate referrals when indicated.

Provide advice, counsel, and education to first aid personnel.

Develop knowledge of occupational hazards/exposures and their treatments for the specific location.

Assist in medical leaves of absence and Workers’ Compensation processes as required.

Participate in evaluations of the effectiveness of the Health Services & Resources provided to employees.

Help maintain the health facility in an orderly, clean, and sanitary condition.

Maintain standards of nursing practice.

Participate in internal or cross-functional projects and teams.

Qualifications:

Registered Nurse license required.

Bachelor’s Degree in nursing or equivalent education preferred.

Three to five years’ experience in occupational health, emergency room, or intensive care nursing required.

Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.

Working knowledge of regulatory areas (e.g., ADA, OSHA, FMLA, Workers’ Comp, STD/LTD).
