The registered nurse (RN) is accountable for the coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care. The RN supports professional nursing practice across practice settings and the continuum of care to meet patient and family needs. The RN functions within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, which includes accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients.

• Coordinate nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care.
• Plan, implement, evaluate, and communicate all phases of nursing care for assigned patients.
• Provide leadership through activities such as preceptorship, informal leadership roles, and quality improvement efforts.
• Delegate patient care based on skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and resources.
• Communicate effectively, mentor and teach team members, and participate on committees or projects.
• Adhere to ANA Nursing:
  Scope and Standards of Practice and other applicable standards.
• May be required to drive personal vehicle as part of responsibilities.

This role is eligible for TN sponsorship. Successful sponsorship will require state licensure and completion of the Visa Screen or equivalent certification.

• Graduate of a nursing program.
• All entry-level associate degree registered nurses with an RN start date of April 1, 2020 and after must provide documented evidence of completion of a baccalaureate degree in nursing within five years from the last day of the month of the RN start date.
• All entry-level associate degree registered nurses with an RN start date prior to April 1, 2020 must provide documented evidence of completion of a baccalaureate degree in nursing as stipulated by the degree requirement program in place at time of hire.
• One year of RN experience in an applicable care setting or one year of LPN experience at Mayo Clinic is preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; experience working in a team environment.
• Computer skills required; prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including days, evenings, nights, holidays, weekends, and on-call.
• Demonstrated leadership, effective communication, and excellent critical thinking skills.
• Current RN license by applicable state requirements.
• Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) competency from American Heart Association or American Red Cross (unless not required by work area).
• Additional state licensure(s) and/or specialty certification/training as required by the work area.

Full Time. Varies. Flexible night shift options, including full-time, modified, part-time, and PRN schedules. Shifts are typically 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM, with variations depending on unit needs. All night shift positions include competitive shift differentials in addition to base pay. Variable shifts may include every other or every third weekend.
