As Southeast Orthopedic Specialists continues to grow, we are looking for Physician Assistants. Please see below for the functions and requirements needed to be considered for this position:
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIESThis position is responsible for providing medical care as delegated by the physician.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES- Conducts physical exams, assesses health status, orders and interprets tests, prescribes medications, and treats illnesses including giving injections and suturing wounds. Consult with physicians as needed and refer to physicians for more complicated medical cases or cases that are not a routine part of a PA’s scope of work.
- Monitors therapies and provides continuity of care.
- Triages patient calls and evaluates patient problems. Responds to emergencies including the use of CPR.
- Counsels' patient/ family on preventative health care.
- Documents patient information and care in medical records and may maintain department statistical database for research purposes.
- Serves as Physician First Assist in Operating Room
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)
- Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
- Current APRN licensure in the state of Florida
- Current CPR certificate required
- Completion of an RN First Assistant (RNFA) preferred but not required
- Two or more years' experience in Orthopedic specialty as APRN
- One year or more experience as First Assist in Operating Room
- Two or more years' experience as RN in either ER, Trauma Unit or ICU
- Ability to make responsible decisions within the scope of the dependent medical practitioner.
- Ability to develop health education programs and materials.
- Ability to work collaboratively with all members of the health care team.
- Skill in gathering and analyzing physiological, socioeconomic, and emotional patient data.
- Skill in accurately evaluating patient problems in person or via phone and providing appropriate advice, intervention, or referral
- Skill in evaluating and revising care plans based on patient changes.
