Matrix Providers is hiring a Registered Nurse - Medical/Surgical to join our team of talented professionals providing healthcare services to Military Service Members and their families at Jacksonville Naval Hospital, Florida.

  • Employment Status: Full-time
  • Compensation: This is an hourly position, paid bi-weekly
    • $39.73-$41.82 ; H&W $5.09
  • Schedule:
    • 7 days per week. 80 hours of service per two-week period including weekends. Services shall be required for a period of 12.5 hours with an uncompensated 30-minute meal break and 8.5-hour shifts. Schedule is managed by the department and subject to change due to department needs and patient care.
    • Shift hours are generally from 7:00 am to 7:30 pm and 7:30 pm to 07:30 am.
    • Current schedule
      :
      • Week 1 = 48 hours, 4 (12) hour shifts, Overtime is paid for hours over 40. Work Saturday.
      • Week 2 = 32 hours, 2 (12) hour shifts + 1 (8) hour shift. Work Sunday and Saturday off.
      • Every 2 weeks, 80 hours.

Requirements:
  • Education: Possess a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, a Graduate Diploma in Nursing, or an Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited agency such as the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
  • Certifications must be through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
    • Basic Life Support (BLS)
    • Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Experience: Possess a minimum of six (6) months experience in the preceding twenty- four (24) months working in an adult and pediatric medical/surgical setting.
  • Licensure: Possess and maintain a current unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in any one (1) of the 50 States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam or the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Provide two (2) letters of recommendation from practicing physicians or peers attesting to the HCW’s clinical skills. Reference letters must include name, title, phone number, date of reference, address and signature of the individual providing reference. Letters of reference must have been written within the preceding two (2) years.

Job Summary:
  • Provide comprehensive patient care by performing physical examinations, obtaining health histories, administering medications, providing wound care, and delivering individualized nursing interventions.
  • Coordinate patient care with physicians, nurses, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to promote optimal clinical outcomes, quality, and cost-effective care.
  • Assess and respond to patient needs and emergencies
    , recognizing adverse signs and symptoms, initiating appropriate interventions, following established emergency protocols, and notifying leadership when additional assistance is required.
  • Promote patient health and education by providing counseling, health-promotion activities, education, and information regarding treatment plans and preventive care.
  • Ensure compliance with standards of care by following MTF policies, procedures, clinical guidelines, safety requirements, and applicable standards of professional practice.
  • Delegate and supervise patient-care activities by assigning duties according to staff members' scope of practice, competency, and skill level and providing clinical direction to supporting personnel, including hospital corpsmen and students.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation by timely and accurately recording patient assessments, treatments, interventions, referrals, and other required clinical information in MHS Genesis and other applicable systems.
  • Participate in quality improvement and risk management activities
    , including peer review, performance improvement initiatives, research, care evaluations, identification of practice concerns, and development of corrective actions to improve patient outcomes.
  • Provide staff training and professional development by participating in in-service education, clinical training, continuing education, required annual command training and meetings as directed.
  • Support overall clinic operations and regulatory requirements by participating in the Family Advocacy Program, protecting patient rights, maintaining required records and reports, managing DOD email and communications, operating clinical and Microsoft Office systems, and responding to voicemail and email communications in a timely manner.
