Veterinary Technician

We are looking for a Veterinary Technician to join our thriving practice! We are a privately owned 3 and a 1/2 doctor practice. We highly utilize our technicians to the maximum skillset, helping the doctors be more productive by taking on the tasks that technicians are trained for, while letting the Doctor practice the art of veterinary medicine itself. Some of these responsibilities include expediting appointment flow, managing lab samples and both pharmacy and non-pharmacy dispensed items, admitting and discharging patients, and communicating with clients, among others.

A technician must have a working knowledge of basic animal husbandry, veterinary terminology, vaccine protocols, phlebotomy skills, nursing skills, surgical assisting, anesthesia knowledge, and pharmacology knowledge, including drug calculations. They must be able to successfully restrain animals without causing undue stress, complete clinical laboratory tests, use multiple radiography techniques, administer medications in a variety of methods, and educate clients on a variety of educational topics.

Technicians should always maintain compassion for their patients and human counterparts, portraying empathy and care during stressful situations.

Minimum age requirement is 18 years

Minimum education requirement is a high school diploma or equivalent

Minimum work experience of 1 year in veterinary medicine, with specific work in veterinary technical training preferred.

Animal care and/or husbandry experience.

Basic computer skills; typing and working knowledge of MS Office and PDF programs, ability to learn new software rapidly, ability to navigate computer network and Internet.

Availability to work a variety of day, evening, weekend and holiday shifts (weekend and holiday on a rotating basis).Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.

Ability to lift and carry objects weighing 40 pounds without assistance and objects weighing more than that with assistance

Ability to work standing, sitting, bending and kneeling/on the ground for sustained periods of time.
