Position: Quality Control Inspector (QCI) II (SRS)

Epsilon Systems Solutions, Inc. has a job opportunity for a Quality Control Inspector (QCI) II.

Directly reports to QA & EHS Manager at the Jacksonville, FL location. Inspect and monitor work performed on government and commercial work items, specializing in Hull, Mechanical and Electrical Inspections for Quality compliance. Review work packages prior to start‑work for completeness, accuracy and compliance with technical specifications and customer requirements. Follow basic Test and Inspection Plans for projects. Perform in‑process work surveillances, safety surveillances and assist production management with final work‑package review after work‐completion.

Performs internal in‑process audits to monitor compliance with company procedures and performs external audits to evaluate supplier performance while on worksite. Communicates to the QA & EHS Manager to help prepare Corrective Action Requests, and Preventative Action requests as related to production work to ensure compliance with established policies, procedures and work instructions. Assist Program Managers, Project Managers, and Supervisors/Foreman to comply with NAVSEA Standard Item and other customer related requirements to ensure work is conducted accurately and safely.

Assigned to project for onsite support to the Project Manager and Supervisor/Foreman to ensure all documentation is completed as required. Assist production in other ways as necessary (i.e. Fire Watch, Tank Watch, general cleaning, material control, etc.) while assigned.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor compliance with company Quality and Safety Management Systems, Workmanship standards and Customer requirements.
  • Follow safety, quality control and inspection procedures for test and inspection plans for production Work-Packages and QA Work Books.
  • Follow test standards and specify test equipment associated with requirements established in test and inspection plans.
  • Schedule and conduct in‑process Self Assessment in‑process Safety/Quality Assurance inspections, Audits and Surveillances for the Project Manager assigned.
  • Perform Audits and Surveillances of Suppliers/Subcontractors for in‑process work.
  • Coordinate with customer QA/Safety representatives to coordinate inspection and acceptance activities.
  • Review QA/Safety control requirements with customer representative to assure compliance with requirements.
  • Review contractually required quality/safety documentation for accuracy and completeness for project/job/contract completion.
  • Maintain OQE records retention.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the QA & EHS Manager and Project Manager (when assigned to worksite).
Job Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent and specialized training and certifications in Quality Assurance with 4 years total waterfront experience with 3 years Quality Inspection/Testing experience.

Preferred Requirements

Completed Maritime Trade School / Apprenticeship with 1 year waterfront Quality Assurance experience OR 4 years military service with specialized training and certifications in Quality Inspection/Testing.

Travel Requirements

Must be able to travel for extended periods of time (85%).

Job Training

Safety, Quality Assurance and NAVSEA Standards for shipboard work.

Certifications

Quality Assurance Inspector, NACE/NBPI (desired), OSHA 3095 (desired), OSHA 5410 (desired), OSHA 521 (desired), OSHA 3115 (desired), NDT‑VT (desired), NDT‑PT (desired), NDT‑MT (desired).

Base Access

Must be able to obtain and maintain access to U.S Military bases and shipyards for performance of job duties.

Knowledge

Knowledgeable in shipyard, maritime, and commercial work practices, quality assurance, safety, metal‑work and contracting methods.

Knowledge of Navy ship repair processes and procedures.

Knowledge of OSHA Regulations for Shipyard Employment, NAVSEA Standard Items, Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM), NAVSHIPS Tech Manuals (NSTM), and DOD Standards, Military Specifications, Performance Standards, and other customer related specifications and standards.

Knowledgeable in all aspects of workplace Safety.
