General Description / Primary PurposeThe position serves as a technical lead for pavement performance research, providing oversight of data collection, analysis, and reporting activities. This role coordinates and guides research staff, applies advanced analytical methods, and leads the development of data infrastructure, experimental designs, and emerging technologies to enhance the quality, reliability, and long‑term value of pavement materials and performance evaluation data. The position is located on‑site in the Pavement Research Unit of the FDOT State Materials Office in Gainesville, FL.
JobFunctions
- Coordinate research staff supporting data collection and data analysis of pavement performance evaluation.
- Provide technical leadership of data analysis activities.
- Apply advanced analytical techniques to the data.
- Develop database structures to enhance tracking and long‑term utilization of pavement materials and performance evaluation data.
- Plan and track the progress of studies, and coordinate the annual performance data collection with other units (PCS and NDT).
- Identify and solicit research ideas.
- Contribute significantly to designing experiments, developing test plans, identifying proper sensor types, modifying test tools, analyzing data, and reporting research findings.
- Document analytical findings through clear summary reporting, final deliverables, and continued enhancement of data visualization tools to support research outcomes and deployment.
- Implement and develop new technologies and infrastructure to improve pavement data collection, processing, analysis, and reporting, with a focus on continuous improvements in this area moving forward.
Master’s and 2+ years of relevant experience or Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of relevant experience. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219.
