Job Title
Warehouse/Counter Service – Full Time / Non‑Exempt – Jacksonville, FL –
Reports To:
Branch Manager
This position involves branch operations such as answering telephone calls, servicing customers, generating invoices, loading items into customer vehicles, and safely operating material handling equipment to pull accurate orders and deliver them on time.
Job Responsibilities- Provide fast and friendly customer service by following "Customer First" standards, in person or over the telephone.
- Display a positive attitude by greeting customers as they enter the branch.
- Ensure commitments made to customers are met or exceeded.
- Pull customer orders from the warehouse and load them into company delivery trucks, customer vehicles, or stage items for pick‑up while following safe material handling procedures.
- Produce and complete accurate paperwork including invoices, C.O.D.s, special orders, vendor purchase orders, and shipping and receiving documents.
- Ensure all product leaving the branch is billed and collect payment via cash or credit card following all money‑handling procedures.
- Process all customer returns and warranties on the day they are received.
- Unload deliveries by hand or using material handling equipment and place product in assigned stocking areas.
- Operate lift truck or other material handling equipment safely and efficiently, keeping it in good working order.
- Immediately report damage, safety issues, and accidents to the supervisor.
- Maintain the appearance of the warehouse and entire facility, including debris removal, sweeping, vacuuming, and cleaning bathrooms.
- Maintain the appearance of the yard and parking area by removing trash daily.
- Verify accuracy of incoming orders by counting before stocking and report discrepancies to the supervisor.
- Prepare and receive all product shipped by UPS.
- Use and maintain the counter notebook.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Excellent verbal communication skills with the public and customers.
- Positive attitude and interpersonal skills for customer service.
- Proficiency operating a computer and using Prophet 21.
- Ability to read invoices, catalogs, stock numbers and descriptions accurately.
Fast‑paced environment with frequent interruptions. Requires frequent bending, climbing, movement, and lifting during loading/unloading of trucks and stocking products. The employee may be exposed to extreme cold and heat. The schedule is typically Monday through Friday with some Saturday half‑days. This is a safety‑sensitive position. Successful completion of pre‑employment screenings is required and the applicant must be at least 18 years of age to operate a forklift.
