Position Summary
Responsible for the day-to-day coordination of product programs when in season and both the eCommerce, and retail store operations, this position oversees inventory management, order fulfillment, volunteer and customer support, training development, and retail merchandising. The specialist leverages technology, data analysis, and strong communication skills to improve processes, increase participation and sales, strengthen the Girl Scout brand, and deliver outstanding service to volunteers, members, and customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Product Program
- Manages multiple product programs, retail and customer management technology platforms, ensuring data accuracy, ongoing maintenance, reporting and volunteer support.
- Partners with GSUSA-product vendors and internal departments to implement product program initiatives, training, incentives, promotions, and operational improvements.
- Assists in the creation, scheduling and delivery of engaging training, resources, and communications for volunteers and staff using a variety of learning methods and technology.
- Provides product program and retail updates for website to Marketing and Comms team
- Reviews and updates product program communications, procedures and training/resource materials to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with council goals
- Delivers exceptional customer service by providing timely support and conflict resolution for girls, families, and volunteers.
- Maintains accurate product sales records, financial reports, participation data, and program analytics to identify trends and support data-driven decision making.
- Works collaboratively with Member Support and Customer Care teams to increase participation, improve volunteer experience, and ensure successful program delivery.
Retail Operations
- Coordinates the day-to-day operations of the council retail shop and eCommerce store, ensuring exceptional customer experience through efficient order fulfillment, merchandising, and inventory management.
- Maintains retail inventory by monitoring stock levels, processing purchase orders, conducting inventory counts, and analyzing product performance and sales trends.
- Administers retail technology systems, including the POS (Point of Sale) and eCommerce platforms, ensuring accurate product information, pricing, inventory, reporting and order processing.
- Assists in developing and monitoring the annual retail budget while supporting sales growth and revenue goals.
- Analyzes retail trends, Girl Scout merchandise, and customer purchasing behavior to recommend new products, merchandising strategies, and seasonal inventory selections.
- Coordinates retail merchandising, displays, signage and promotional initiatives to enhance customer experience and strengthen the GS brand.
- Plans and oversees mobile retail experiences and council retail events, including Trading Post at camp, pop up retail shops (travel), and retail opportunities at council sponsored events.
- Develops and maintains relationships with GSUSA merchandise partners and external vendors to support purchasing, pricing, inventory and new product opportunities.
- Prepares inventory, sales, purchasing and financial reports to support operational planning and business decisions.
- Collaborates across departments to identify retail opportunities that enhance council programs, events and member engagement.
Education, Experience, and other Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or four years of directly related work experience in a volunteer-based organization or non-profit, product/retail sales, financial/administrative practices and/or sales.
- Ability to work flexible schedule, including nights and weekends during critical initiatives.
- Hours over the typical 37.5-hour week schedule may be required seasonally to fulfill the needs of the position.
