Position Summary

The Inside Sales Representative supports the sales team and customers by providing technical product support, preparing quotes, processing orders, and managing customer relationships within the water and wastewater industry. This role works closely with outside sales, manufacturers, engineers, and contractors to ensure accurate and timely project support while delivering a high level of customer service.

Key Duties and Essential Functions
  • Develop relationships with clients and principals to encourage trust and loyalty
  • Convert inquiries and requests originating from either internal or new/existing external customers to new business, ensuring a positive customer experience
  • Understand customers’ needs and identify opportunities
  • Research and identify correct parts based on technical documentation and equipment history
  • Coordinate with manufacturers and vendors to confirm lead times, pricing, and availability
  • Collaborate regularly with Aftermarket Sales and Capital Sales
  • Review manuals/drawings when necessary, determining and confirming parts or equipment needed
  • Follow through the process from RFQ to Quote to Order to Shipment, keeping the workflow moving forward and maintaining open communication channels between external and internal customers
  • Contact manufacturers or reference price lists when generating quotes
  • Follow up with customers and manufacturers for necessary information on a regular basis
  • Obtain information from manufacturers and transfer it into the ERP system to prepare accurate, timely quotes for replacement parts and service
  • Process orders from transmission to manufacturers, entry into the ERP system, through shipment, including documentation, tracking, and communication
  • Attach acknowledgements/invoices and regularly update ERP system orders with the most current information
  • Coordinate field service visits with customers and technicians
Required Qualifications
  • 2+ years of inside sales, customer service, or sales support experience
  • Strong customer service and relationship‑building skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self‑motivated with a collaborative, team‑oriented approach
Preferred Skills
  • Experience supporting municipal water or wastewater projects
  • Familiarity with pumps, valves, treatment equipment, or process systems
  • Prior experience working with engineers, contractors, or municipalities
  • Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and project drawings
  • Experience with CRM and ERP systems preferred
Physical Demands and Work Environment

The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time. Must be able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.

Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. Must be able to observe details at close range.
