Role Description

The General Sales Manager is a full‑time, on‑site leadership role based at Coggin Chevrolet at the Avenues in Jacksonville, FL. This role oversees the sales department, including new and pre‑owned vehicle sales, ensuring targets are met while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction. Daily responsibilities include managing and coaching the sales team, monitoring performance metrics, setting sales strategies and pricing, and collaborating with finance and service departments to optimize the customer experience.

The General Sales Manager will handle inventory and merchandising decisions, assist with complex customer negotiations, and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. The role also involves recruiting and training sales staff, conducting regular sales meetings, and contributing to local marketing and promotional initiatives to drive showroom traffic.

Qualifications
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, including experience coaching, mentoring, and developing sales professionals.
  • Proven background in automotive retail sales or a similar high‑volume sales environment, with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills to build trust and long‑term relationships with buyers and team members.
  • Ability to develop and execute sales strategies, analyze sales metrics, and make data‑informed decisions about pricing, inventory, and staffing.
  • Solid understanding of dealership operations, including inventory management, F&I processes, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Comfort with using dealership management systems and basic office software for reporting, scheduling, and customer follow‑up.
  • Strong negotiation and problem‑solving skills to handle complex deals, resolve customer concerns, and support the sales team in closing opportunities.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and reliability, with the ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Relevant supervisory or management experience; a bachelor’s degree in business, management, or a related field is preferred but not required.
