Insurance Sales/Account Representative — Job Description ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Sales and Business Development
- Develops strategies to generate new internal and external sales opportunities.
- Builds and maintains relationships with members/clients and prospects.
- Ensures satisfaction to promote renewals and referrals.
- Cross-sells to grow the company's overall book of business through diverse product offerings.
- Conducts thorough needs assessments and delivers consultative service through proactive problem-solving.
- Uses resources proactively to provide quality, tailored solutions in a timely manner.
- Present product options to address client and prospect needs, including enhanced coverage alternatives.
- Identifies and capitalizes on opportunities to sell and cross-sell personal and commercial insurance products.
- Uses phone, text, and email to drive sales efforts.
- Provides prompt, effective follow-up on inbound inquiries to secure new business and retain existing policies.
- Provides comprehensive information on all products and services to members/clients and prospects.
- Builds strong relationships that foster satisfaction, loyalty, and brand connection.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent with 1–2 years of insurance experience. College degree preferred.
Experience
- Personal lines experience required; commercial experience a plus.
- General knowledge of insurance operations, terminology, and objectives.
- Continuing education to maintain designations/certifications and license.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Sales-oriented and resilient — handles objections, exceeds targets, competitive drive.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making; proactive with client needs.
- Self-motivated, accountable, professional, maintains confidentiality.
- Advanced written/verbal communication and phone etiquette.
- Strong organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks/deadlines.
- Solid grasp of insurance industry/process/workflow; proficient with quoting platforms and CRM tools.
Computer Skills
- Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), internet, and related applications.
- Agency Management system experience preferred.
Preferred
- Active state Property & Casualty license (Personal Lines license required; General Lines license preferred).
