Responsibilities

Oversee the Research Center or Program which serves as the research administrative base for a small to medium size research program(s) potentiallyinvolving multicenter clinical trial/research groups with national/international participation. Provides leadership, management, and direction and is responsible for the operation of the program within the designated Research Center or Program. Works with leadership to coordinate resources and workloads to achieve objectives and strategies.

Works with Scientific and Administrative leadership in development of strategic plans, programmatic budgets, and process improvements. Manages partnerships with national/international consortium or program members. Interacts and works collaboratively with federal and/or industry sponsors and agencies for items related to the Research Center or Program. Participates in grant renewal processes and progress reports. Initiates and maintains positive working relationships with internal (e.g. IRB, Compliance Office, all shields, etc.)

and external customers (e.g. FDA, NIH, OHRP, etc.). Manages projects and serves as a primary resource for issues and communications relating to the Research Center or Program. Performs duties independently and initiates judgment in handling a variety of programmatic issues. May have supervisory responsibilities. Additional job specific duties as assigned by reporting work unit leadership.

The SPARK Research Mentorship Program provides rising junior and senior high school students with unparalleled mentored research experience in world‑class laboratories at the Mayo Clinic campus in Jacksonville, Florida. SPARK scholars gain experience in basic science, the research process, critical thinking, and professional conduct. SPARK provides an opportunity to gain exposure to the real world of scientific inquiry and nurtures interest and enthusiasm for science.

During the program, SPARK scholars produce highly competitive projects that they enter in science fairs, and many have won regional and state awards, honors, and prize dollars for their research.

The success of SPARK is demonstrated by the accomplishments of our scholars.

As part of their expanding mentorship program, they are seeking a new member to:

  • Developandmaintaina SPARKAlumni Association that includes active interactions with alumni, an interactive tracking system, and social media engagement (i.e. Linked In).
  • Develop and oversee groups/committees within SPARKthat include but not limited to site expansion, advisory, student matching, public relations, science fair forms review, etc.
  • Foster relationships withparticipating school districtadministrations to improve student recruitment. This may include travel to offsite locations to present to school science classes/clubs.
  • Collaborate with community science fair partners for continue improvement of science fair related processes.
  • Develop methodologies to evaluate the program, provide year‑end reports, and assist with manuscript publications.
  • Interact with Public Relations of Mayo Clinic and oversee documentary creation.
  • Work collaboratively with SPARK Research Project Assistant as needed with program activities.
