Experience Level: Experienced (5+ Years)
Location: Jacksonville, Florida (or as assigned) – must be able to travel to and from the office location. Relocation assistance is not available.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct ecological field investigations and environmental site assessments, including wetlands delineations and habitat evaluations
  • Perform environmental sampling activities involving soil sampling, groundwater sampling, surface water sampling, air sampling, and biological media sampling
  • Complete fieldwork tasks including vegetation identification, soils observations, hydrology indicators, and ecological data collection
  • Analyze and interpret environmental and ecological data, including environmental data analysis and trend evaluation
  • Support and implement environmental monitoring programs and compliance-related field activities
  • Prepare and contribute to technical reports, environmental impact assessments, permit applications, and regulatory submittals
  • Assist with environmental permitting processes and coordination with regulatory agencies and project stakeholders
  • Apply and maintain knowledge of environmental regulations, including the Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, and CERCLA
  • Utilize environmental sampling techniques, data analysis tools, GIS, and environmental modeling software as needed
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and clients to support project schedules and deliverables
  • Provide technical guidance and quality control support to junior staff
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Environmental Engineering, Biology, or a closely related field
  • Five (5) or more years of professional experience in environmental science, ecological consulting, or related discipline
  • Experience conducting ecological field investigations, environmental site assessments, and wetlands delineations
  • Proficiency in environmental sampling techniques and environmental data analysis
  • Working knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations, including the Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, and CERCLA
  • Experience preparing technical reports, environmental impact assessments, permit applications, and regulatory submittals
  • Ability to perform fieldwork in outdoor environments and variable conditions
About the Role

Bio-Tech Consulting LLC is seeking an experienced Environmental Scientist to support ecological field investigations, environmental site assessments, wetlands delineations, and environmental compliance efforts on projects throughout Florida. This role focuses on hands‑on fieldwork, environmental sampling, ecological data collection, and preparation of technical and regulatory documentation.

The Environmental Scientist works collaboratively with project managers, engineers, and regulatory agencies to support compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations, including the Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, and CERCLA, while maintaining a practical, field-forward approach to environmental consulting. Projects may involve coordination with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) and Florida Water Management Districts (WMDs).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, or a related field
  • Familiarity with environmental permitting processes and regulatory coordination
  • Familiarity with projects reviewed by FDEP and Florida Water Management Districts (SJRWMD, SWFWMD, SFWMD, SRWMD, or NWFWMD)
  • Experience with GIS, GPS data collection, and environmental modeling tools
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Environmental Scientist (CES) or Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) (or on track)
