The Chemist I is responsible for performing comprehensive environmental data validation in accordance with U.S. EPA National Functional Guidelines and DoD Validation Guidelines, including reviewing analytical data packages for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with applicable methods. They will coordinate with project managers, field staff, project teams, and analytical laboratories to address data quality issues, manage data collection and tracking, and ensure projects remain on schedule and within scope and budget.

The Chemist I will critically evaluate analytical data to assess usability relative to data quality objectives.

The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties, but not all duties performed for this position. Other duties may be assigned.

• Perform data validation in compliance with EPA National Functional Guidelines and DoD Validation Guidelines, which includes quality control reviews of preliminary and final analytical data packages across a wide variety of matrices and constituents
• Coordinate with the project manager and field staff on field data collection issues and act as a point-of-contact on analytical data matters for the project team and analytical laboratories throughout the project lifecycle
• Communicate with analytical laboratories to coordinate analyses and address data quality issues
• Work with project teams to coordinate data collection, data tracking, and reporting while keeping to project schedules, scopes and budgets
• Maintain confidentiality at all times
• Review environmental laboratory data for completeness, correctness, and compliance against the published analytical methods
• Handle multiple tasks simultaneously effectively and efficiently with precision and adapt to changes in responsibilities and workloads

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and 0-3 years of related experience

• Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
• Critical attention to detail, well-organized, and self-starter that can prioritize work assignments to deliver on time and within budget
• Excellent writing and communication skills
• Familiarity with US EPA methods for the preparation and analysis of environmental samples
• Experience in working with government clients
• Experience with USEPA & DOD guidelines
• Familiarity with EQuIS and/or EQuIS DQM
