Security Officer / High‑End Retail Loss Prevention (Tampa Regional Office)

Position DetailsPosition Title: Unarmed Security Officer
Pay: $20.50 per hour. Unarmed officers must have a D Security License.
Minimum Experience: 2 years of security experience, preferably in loss prevention. High‑End Retail Security experience a plus.
Uniform: Candidates must be professional; a black suit and tie is required during shifts.
Primary Purpose and FunctionThe High‑End Retail Loss Prevention Security Officer is responsible for providing security services at assigned locations with a focus on observing and reporting. Duties include monitoring all activity, conducting foot patrols, vehicular patrols, golf cart or bicycle patrols; reporting suspicious persons and activities; writing detailed narrative reports and maintaining daily activity reports (DAR’s); enforcing post orders, site rules, policies, procedures; and responding to emergency situations requiring security assistance.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Execute security services as outlined in the Post Order Manual and accompanying policy and procedural guidelines and as directed by SMSSI Management.
- Conduct walking patrols of building/facility or assigned areas within or outside the building/facility, including vehicular, golf cart, and/or bicycle patrols.
- Identify and report security threats, unsafe conditions or hazards, and other emergency situations.
- Perform site‑specific duties such as customer service, loss prevention, retail security, lobby/visitor reception, freight elevator security, loading dock security, and other safety and security roles.
- Write detailed, accurate, and legible incident reports during shift, noting any unusual activities and how issues were resolved. Notify relevant parties (Site Supervision, Field Management, etc.) as directed by post orders.
- Know all site‑specific policies and procedures and implement emergency response activities as appropriate.
- Participate in all required orientation and training programs.
- Respond to incidents in conformity with the Post Orders and the Company’s Use of Force Policy, ensuring appropriate action is taken, all reports are completed, and relevant parties are notified in a timely manner.
- Conduct security, customer service, or support functions as directed by the supervisor or to support client requests.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Current or prior military experience, or college education in the security field desirable.
- 1–3 years of professional‑level work experience preferred, with experience in scheduling, operations, or other security functions being a plus.
- Must possess a valid registration/permit/license required by the state or jurisdiction of employment.
- Must successfully complete a background investigation and required drug/alcohol test at the time of hire and ongoing medical liabilities.
- Maintain current active status of all necessary registrations/licenses/permits and carry appropriate documents at all times while on duty.
High School Diploma, GED, or H.S. Equivalent.
