JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for maintaining, supervising, and training experienced trade personnel required to accomplish all assigned and upcoming tasks. Ensure that all material required by the Foreman's craft is requisitioned in a timely manner and on site in accordance with schedule requirements so that jobs are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (This list is not intended to detail all aspects of the assigned work but is representative of the job's overall responsibilities)
1. Ensure required trade personnel, material, and equipment is available to support all ongoing and upcoming projects.
2. Allocate supervision and trade personnel to each job.
3. Determines appropriate procedures required to accomplish technical requirements of each job and relays this to the trade supervisors.
4. Responsible for the timely requisitioning of material and equipment for each job.
5. Coordinates with Project Manager and or Superintendent when required to ensure schedule requirements can be met and condition reports concerning technical requirements are properly submitted and priced.
6. Assist in estimating both growth work and new work when required.
7. Ensure supervisors are compliant with time keeping procedures.
8. Coordinates with HR, Safety, QA, and the Production Manager to maintain all employee training and certifications.
9. Responsible for the recruitment, training, supervision, and evaluation of department staff.
10. This position will also assure organizational compliance with all safety, quality, environmental, and state, local and federal regulations.
11. The Foreman will also perform other duties as assigned.
AUTHORITY:
The Foreman has the authority to make decisions involved with carrying out the above responsibilities. However, the Foreman may not proceed without approval of his supervisor:
Revise compensation, hire or fire any employee reporting directly to the Foreman.

1. Works with minimal direction, independently determines methods and procedures on new assignments and provides guidance to others.
2. Determines appropriate actions, methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for expediting results by exercising independent judgment within defined practices and policies.
3. Follows an organized method in approach to work but is cognizant of the time needed to provide a service or product.

6. Ability to coach, set team goals, delegate tasks, communicate expectations, and hold others accountable

8. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret Specification Items, professional drawings, technical procedures and governmental publications and regulations
9. Ability to write reports, correspondence, e-mails, and plans in a professional, clear, and concise manner
10. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, peers, and subordinates
11. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
12. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form and organize and apply them to accomplish tasks
RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to the Production Manager
PERSONS REPORTING TO FOREMAN:
- Supervisors
- Trade Craftsman
- Other staff as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Graduation from a standard apprenticeship/trade/vocational school preferred
2. High school diploma or GED required
3. Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or other engineering fields preferred.
4. Minimum of five (5) years of experience managing/supervising in a shipbuilding or ship repair company
5. Must be authorized to work in the United States.
6. Must be able to gain access to military installations.
7. Must successfully pass a drug screen and background investigation.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be able to tour all vessels, piers, docks, and work sites to perform the duties of this job. The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use of hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms;
