Job Title

Carpenter

Responsibilities
  • Install and repair metal doors and related hardware in new construction environments, with particular attention to ADA requirements.
  • Cut, measure, and assemble wood components to build temporary doors, walls, and other structures as needed on the job site.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings to plan and execute framing, rough carpentry, and finish carpentry tasks.
  • Perform door installation work from rough-in through final trim, ensuring proper alignment, operation, and finish quality.
  • Complete framing and rough carpentry, including metal stud work and drywall-related tasks, to support overall construction progress.
  • Carry out finish carpentry and trim work to meet project specifications and quality standards, especially in healthcare and specialized facilities.
  • Use hand and power tools safely and effectively for cutting, fastening, drilling, and assembling materials.
  • Oversee and coordinate the daily activities of a crew of 2–3 workers, assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and ensuring work meets quality and safety standards.
  • Ensure all work complies with ADA guidelines and project specifications, particularly in healthcare and other accessibility-focused construction.
  • Maintain a safe job site by enforcing the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and following safety procedures at all times.
  • Communicate with project stakeholders as needed to report progress, address issues, and support efficient project completion.
  • Adapt to working conditions in partially completed or non–climate-controlled buildings and manage the crew’s workflow accordingly.
Essential Skills
  • Proven experience in carpentry with a strong knowledge in door installation and repair, particularly metal doors.
  • Hands-on experience with rough carpentry, framing, and finish carpentry in commercial or institutional construction.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents.
  • Practical knowledge of ADA requirements as they apply to door installation and healthcare construction.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively on active job sites.
  • Strong understanding of construction site safety practices and consistent use of PPE.
  • Capability to work full-time in the field and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the workday.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with healthcare construction projects such as hospitals, medical clinics, dental facilities, and other specialized environments.
  • Experience in new construction projects including office/warehouses, metal buildings, churches, community centers, and similar facilities.
  • Familiarity with metal stud framing, drywall installation support, and related interior build-out tasks.
  • Trim work and finish carpentry skills suited to high-visibility areas in occupied or sensitive facilities.
  • Experience working on ADA-focused projects, including daycare and assisted living facilities.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills to coordinate effectively with crew members and other trades on site.

Environment

This is a field-based role, with work performed 100% on active construction sites, including new daycare and assisted living facilities and other commercial projects. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with occasional need to stay later as project demands require. You must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times and follow all site safety rules.
