Aircraft Electrical Maintenance Technician – Wiring & Fiber Optics
Jacksonville, FL | $29.87 - $35.22/Hour
Ability to Obtain a Secret Clearance
Responsibilities- Perform scheduled maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, modifications, and functional testing of aircraft electrical and avionics systems.
- Read, interpret, and work from wiring schematics, electrical diagrams, technical drawings, and maintenance documentation.
- Perform bonding, resistance, continuity, and AC/DC power checks on aircraft systems.
- Troubleshoot aircraft electrical systems and identify wiring, connectivity, and installation issues.
- Install, route, terminate, and repair aircraft wiring in accordance with engineering drawings and applicable standards.
- Perform connector removal, installation, and wire terminations, including pins, sockets, ring terminals, splices, shield ferrules, sleeves, coaxial connectors, and shielded twisted‑pair assemblies.
- Install and troubleshoot fiber optic, coaxial, quadrax, and related aircraft communication and data transmission systems.
- Ensure proper cable routing, spacing, bundle management, cable tie installation, lacing techniques, and special cable handling procedures.
- Utilize electrical test equipment and precision measurement tools, including multimeters, megohmmeters, bond meters, environmental crimpers, Daniels crimpers, AMP crimpers, Burndy crimpers, push‑pull scales, and weigh scales.
- Perform Air Data Testing with appropriate support and procedures.
- Document maintenance actions accurately and ensure compliance with contractual, regulatory, quality, and safety requirements.
- Identify and communicate technical issues, discrepancies, and repair concerns to team leads and management.
- Support military aircraft, commercial derivative aircraft, fighter aircraft, and aircraft component maintenance and overhaul programs.
- Adhere to safety procedures, quality standards, Foreign Object Damage (FOD) prevention requirements, and established maintenance processes.
- U.S. citizenship may be required for program access and military aviation support.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 4–5 years of aircraft electrical maintenance, avionics maintenance, MRO, military aviation, commercial aviation, or related aerospace experience.
- Boeing 737 aircraft maintenance experience required.
- Experience in troubleshooting aircraft electrical systems and wiring discrepancies.
- Ability to install, troubleshoot, and repair fiber optic systems and associated aircraft cabling.
- Experience in terminating and installing aircraft electrical connectors, pins, sockets, splices, coaxial cables, and related assemblies.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting aircraft wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, and technical documentation.
- Experience performing continuity, resistance, bonding, and AC/DC power checks.
- Knowledge of aircraft wire routing, cable management, and electrical installation standards.
- Proficiency using aircraft electrical maintenance tools, crimpers, multimeters, megohmmeters, bond meters, and related test equipment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to obtain OSHA‑compliant Fall Protection Certification and perform work at heights while using fall protection equipment.
- Must be available to work either 1st or 2nd shift as business needs require.
- Ability to work onsite 100 in Jacksonville, FL.
- Military aviation and/or commercial aerospace maintenance experience accepted.
- FAA Airframe (A) and/or Powerplant (P) Certification.
- Experience supporting military aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) programs.
- Knowledge of Human Factors, FOD Control, Tool Control, Health & Safety, and COSHH practices.
- Experience supporting fighter aircraft, military derivative aircraft, or defense aviation programs.
- Additional avionics troubleshooting and aircraft modification experience.
