Job Title:
Auto Body Technician
The Auto Body Technician’s primary responsibility is to provide an exceptional customer experience through meticulous assessment and repair of vehicles. The technician disassembles, repairs, and reassembles each vehicle while maintaining speed, quality, and customer excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure consistent execution of WOW (Wow Operating Way) plan.
- Plan repair work and prepare cost estimates for customers.
- Use tools such as cutting guns, plasma cutters, hydraulic jacks, hammers, and pliers to repair vehicle sections.
- Hammer out dents, dimples, and minor body damage; mix and apply filler resins when other methods aren’t feasible.
- Realign car chassis and frames to repair structural damage.
- Remove damaged sections and replace them with new or aftermarket parts. Replace or repair glass and windshields.
- Replace or repair interior parts as needed.
- Weld and attach parts or fit them into place; prepare and repaint vehicles with factory‑specified paint or agreed‑upon equivalent.
- Attempt to complete work orders within labor time guidelines and ensure all work is executed correctly by inspecting vehicles after repair.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Successful completion of a technical school program or a 3‑year apprenticeship as an auto body repairer.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to read job orders and work with very little supervision.
- Ability to work with other repairers within an auto body shop.
- Thorough understanding of methods and procedures to repair vehicle bodies.
- Thorough understanding of how to use tools required for the trade.
- Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.
- Must be able to visually inspect vehicle damage in a variety of weather conditions.
- Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.
