Electrical Inspector - Lightning Protection, Part Time Remote

Position Overview

Electrical Inspector – Lightning Protection (Remote Part‑Time) – Jacksonville, Florida Region. Intertek is seeking a qualified professional to perform field inspections of lightning protection systems on buildings and structures to ensure compliance with applicable standards, issue reports, and communicate with clients. This part‑time, direct‑hire role requires flexibility based on client needs and is intended for individuals who are not simultaneously employed.

Remote with a requirement that applicants reside in and be able to legally work in the United States.

• Perform inspections of lightning protection systems on buildings and structures in accordance with LPI, NFPA, and UL standards.
• Complete detailed reports summarizing inspection work.
• Make judgments regarding compliance with applicable standards.
• Communicate and coordinate with clients, planning visits to work locations.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Compensation is based on experience, qualifications, and other factors. As a part‑time position, no additional benefits are available.

• High school diploma or GED.
• 5+ years of experience in construction or electrical trades (installer, technician, electrician, contractor, or electrical inspector).
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.
• Ability to work independently to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Strict adherence to site PPE requirements and safe work practices on active construction sites.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Excellent customer communication and service skills.
• Flexible schedule, availability 0–40+ hours per week.
• Access to reliable internet.
• Physical ability to stand for prolonged periods, climb stairs and ladders, and lift/carry at least 40 pounds.
• Ability to travel 75% as needed, including air and overnight travel.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record.
• Ability to climb at least 30 feet.
• Work with various noise levels.

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Additional experience as installer, technician, electrician, contractor, or electrical inspector.
