Tactical Air Support Inc. Avionic Mechanic I Jacksonville, FL Salary: $33.00 - $35.00/hr (DOE) Position Summary Under general direction, the Avionics Mechanic will perform organizational, intermediate, and limited depot-level maintenance to include inspection, operational test, repair, modification, troubleshooting, and replacement of aircraft electrical/avionics systems on all assigned aircraft, components, and equipment. This position will apply advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems.
The position classification and level of responsibility will be determined by level of expertise and maintenance assigned (i.e., "O" or "I" level), background, education, and experience. Responsibilities
* Test and troubleshoot instruments, components, and assemblies to ensure proper functioning of systems' discrepancies and modifications.
* Adjust, repair, or replace malfunctioning components or assemblies; install machine or equipment replacement parts; adjust equipment to ensure optimal performance; repair worn, damaged, or defective mechanical parts.
* Install electrical and electronic components, assemblies, and systems.
* Set up and operate ground support and test equipment to perform functional flight tests of electrical and electronic systems to ensure proper functioning.
* Assemble electrical components, subsystems, or systems.
* Connect components to assemblies such as radio systems, instruments, magnetos, inverters, and in-flight refueling systems.
* Read and interpret blueprints, technical directives, planning documents, test specifications, technical publications and procedures, and applicable safety manuals.
* Confer and coordinate work activities with other technicians or maintenance teammates.
* Fabricate parts and test aids as required.
* Operate computer-aided drafting and design applications to design avionics system modifications to develop equipment or component configurations.
* Document all work performed in maintenance records and verify all work performed satisfactorily.
* Other duties as assigned. Requirements
* High School Diploma or equivalent.
* One or more years of expertise in aircraft electrical/avionics systems.
* Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of applicable maintenance and technical manuals, publications, instructions, and special tools and test equipment.
* Familiarity with operational capabilities and limitations of electrical/avionics systems.
* Demonstrated knowledge in corrosion detection, treatment, and prevention.
* Ability to cross-train into other specialties.
* Valid state driver's license.
* Must be lawfully eligible to work in the United States, complete a U.S. government I-9 form, and successfully pass a government background check. Physical Demands
* Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds (with assistance, if required).
* Regular use of hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls, reaching with hands and arms. Work Authorization
* Must be lawfully eligible to work in the United States and complete a U.S. government I-9 Form.
* Tactical Air Support is a Drug & Alcohol-Free Workplace. Pre-employment, random, or for-cause drug/alcohol testing (including for marijuana) is required.
* Pre-employment and ongoing physical certifications are required.
* Occasional aircraft hangar or warehouse environment with exposure to loud noises, fumes from engines and chemicals, unpredictable climate (hot/cold), electrical shock, or trip or slip hazards.
* May be exposed to or required to handle hazardous materials.
* Specific work hours determined by operational, departmental, or contractual requirements.
