Irrigation Mechanic

A full‑time position within Duval County Public Schools, located in Jacksonville, Florida. Requires a valid Florida driver’s license. Base pay is $16.61 per hour.

Job Summary

Plumbing-related work installing, maintaining, repairing, and operating irrigation systems.

Essential Functions

Inspect, install, maintain, and repair irrigation systems and related sprinkler equipment and associated plumbing fixtures in accordance with applicable codes and regulatory standards.

Review technical specifications and related design data, including blueprints, electrical diagrams, and schematics.

Inspect and program irrigation‑related time clocks.

Develop parts and supply lists for assigned projects.

Keep records of time and materials used.

Maintain parts inventory.

Hand‑excavate underground piping and associated irrigation infrastructure.

Operate trenches, compactors, power, and hand tools.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Probation

Six (6) months.

Qualifications

Open Requirements:
Three (3) years of education, training, or plumbing experience involving the installation, repair, or operation of irrigation systems. Must have the physical ability to meet the demands of this job and perform the essential functions.

Licensing

A valid Florida driver’s license is required prior to appointment and must be maintained during employment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of the techniques, methods, practices, and procedures used in the installation, maintenance, repair, and operation of irrigation systems.
Knowledge of equipment, tools, and supplies required to install, maintain, repair, and operate irrigation systems.
Knowledge of equipment, materials, and supplies used in building and grounds maintenance.
Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
Basic oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to care for and properly use irrigation system–related equipment and tools.
Ability to read, understand, and apply job‑related information and materials including blueprints, electrical diagrams, schematic drawings, and equipment and safety manuals.
Ability to operate a motor vehicle.

Position Type and Salary

Full‑Time.

Salary: $16.61 Per Hour.
