Labor One is hiring Journey-Level Marine Electricians for a project in San Diego, California
.
This position is responsible for the installation, repair, and hook‑up of equipment for electrical services on a ship. The individual must have working knowledge of electrical theory and procedures and the ability to troubleshoot and repair shipboard electrical systems and equipment (600 V and less) in accordance with specifications and drawings.
Qualifications and ExperienceMust possess the skill sets of subordinate grades of the labor class. Must have six (6) years of related electrical installation and repair experience.
Duties and Responsibilities- Must comply with OSHA standards and the shipyard's best safety practices.
- Must be physically and medically capable of wearing all required personal protective equipment (PPE) required for the job.
- Arrive at the designated work site on time and complete daily work assignments.
- Keep the work area clean and safe at all times.
- Understand relevant work processes, operation of equipment, and complete tasks proficiently.
- Use appropriate sections of IEE, ABS, Coast Guard and manufacturer's tech manuals and ship's information book in repairing electrical equipment and installing electrical equipment.
- Provide quality work and Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) as required by the work specifications or assigned by the supervisor.
- Work shifts and overtime as assigned.
- Comply with the Company's “Non-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment Policy”.
- Carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Resolve unexpected events related to assigned tasks in a professional manner.
The shipyard environment varies from normal office conditions to working outside under precipitation, wind, extreme cold, and extreme heat. Inside vessels, conditions may be smoky, hot, cold, or low illumination. Heavy equipment and power tools operate in most locations. Work is performed in a variety of spaces, including confined areas accessible only by manholes, high platforms, and via mechanical lifts.
Noise levels are usually loud. Protective equipment must be worn at all times.
Physical DemandsThe physical demands include:
Must comprehend instructions, drawings, reports, and communicate job‑related information. Must understand Ohm's law and operate electrical measuring devices. Must read and interpret composite blueprints, electrical diagrams, and specifications. Must possess thorough understanding of equipment and work processes used in marine electrical repair and system installation. Must operate and care for electric shop equipment and power tools. Must perform basic mathematics and understand US metric measurements.
ShiftInformation
2nd Shift – 40 hours per week with overtime per HM approval.
