Job Description

Northrop Grumman seeks a SCA Aircraft Mechanic II or III to troubleshoot, repair and service P‑3 aircraft and engine systems. These positions are located in Jacksonville, FL with detachment locations to both CONUS and international locations.

These positions require you to work/change shifts according to the need of the program; shifts include Days, Nights and weekends. They are Service Contract Act positions.

Job Responsibilities
  • Maintain and repair U.S. Customs and Border Protection P‑3 aircraft, aircraft systems and components including, but not limited to, T‑56 engines, 54H60‑77 propellers, auxiliary power units, flight controls, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, oxygen and mechanical components.
  • Apply technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems to determine equipment malfunctions and restore equipment condition and/or operation.
  • Apply professional technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blueprints or manufacturer’s manuals/specifications.
  • Utilize extensive knowledge of propulsains / propeller systems and propulsain troubleshooting and repair procedures to replace components.
  • Use thorough knowledge of P‑3 aircraft fuel systems and repair to determine functionality of non‑complex electrical systems, providing technical support to maintenance management, propulsion/airframe engineers and customers.
  • Perform corrosion control, preflight and post‑flight maintenance inspections, fuel sampling, miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, tow and jack aircraft, enter descriptions in the maintenance records, verify work was performed satisfactorily, and perform other tasks as required.
  • Provide and receive guidance and technical expertise to lower and higher‑level technicians throughout all aircraft maintenance and/or modification efforts.
Qualifications
  • LevelII:
    High School diploma plus a minimum of 3years of multiengine transport‑category aircraft experience with proven ability to troubleshoot P‑3 aircraft mechanical, engine and propeller systems.
  • LevelIII:
    High School diploma plus a minimum of 5years of multiengine transport‑category aircraft experience with proven ability to troubleshoot P‑3 aircraft mechanical, engine and propeller systems.
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate.
  • Ability to work any assigned shift and overtime as needed.
  • Ability to use personally owned hand tools and comply with a 100% tool accountability and control process.
  • Use customer‑provided tools requiring calibration and specialized test equipment.
  • Physical ability to become respirator qualified and work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain a DOD Secret clearance as required.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain a Department of Homeland CBP Background Investigation, required to start.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain a U.S. Passport.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience on P‑3 aircraft systems and components including T‑56 engines, 54H60‑77 propellers, auxiliary power units, flight controls, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, oxygen and mechanical components (excluding avionics).
  • Experience on P‑3 aircraft in the structural repair, fabrication, modification and installation of sheet‑metal parts, items, and assemblies.
  • P‑3 engine turn qualification.
  • Familiarity with the Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP) or equivalent.
Salary

Primary Level Salary Range: $32.64–$34.00 per hour.

Secondary Level Salary Range: $34.56–$36.00 per hour.

Employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential and discretionary bonuses in addition to base pay. Bonus and incentive plans apply to higher‑level positions.
