Pipe Welder (BAE Systems, Jacksonville, FL)

BAE Systems Maritime Solutions Division is hiring Pipe Welders ranging from entry-level to experienced backgrounds.

Responsibilities
  • Operate, maintain, and set up a variety of welding machines and handheld tools on a daily basis.
  • Obtain certifications for GTAW welding on a range of metals (CuNi, stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum) covering various fit‑up requirements and positions.
  • Perform GTAW welding using a hand‑remote in multiple settings and positions, both in the shop and on vessels.
  • Conduct pre‑visual NDT inspections before work completion to reduce rework identified by QA and operational testing.
  • Assist other mechanics with diverse job tasks when not actively welding.
  • Work a variety of shifts (1st shift 6:00 am–4:30 pm, 2nd shift 4:00 pm–2:30 am) and weekends to meet shipyard requirements.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • High School Diploma, GED, or 3 years of shipyard/marine experience.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and welding symbols.
  • Capability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Physical ability to perform essential job duties with or without accommodations.
  • Experience working at heights, in confined spaces, and the ability to climb varying staircases and ladders.
  • Must obtain and maintain a Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) access card.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for following simple instructions.
  • Common sense to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagrammatic form.
  • Proficiency in measuring with a scale and tape measure.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • High School Diploma, GED, or 3 years of shipyard/marine experience.
Pay Information
  • Full‑Time Salary Range: $44,720 – $78,520 (based on market pay structures and individual qualifications).
