- Equipment Operation:
Safely and efficiently operate excavators, front wheel loaders, bulldozers, and other heavy equipment to bale, load, move, and stack waste and materials into trailers/containers. - Daily Maintenance:
Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections. Check/add fluids, grease/lubricate equipment, and maintain clean tracks and gear mechanisms to ensure equipment runs smoothly. - Site Support & Communication:
Use two-way radios to coordinate daily priorities with co-workers and office staff. Step in to assist or substitute for team members when needed. - Facility Upkeep & Safety:
Maintain clean, safe grounds and facilities. Attend regular safety and branch meetings while strictly adhering to local, state/provincial, and federal safety regulations.
- Experience:
Hands-on experience operating heavy equipment (excavator, loader, bulldozer, etc.) in an industrial, landfill, transfer station, or construction environment. - Education:
High School Diploma or GED preferred (not required). - Certifications:
Forklift certification completed (or willingness to obtain). Ability to obtain a Transfer Station / Landfill Operations Certification if required. - Communication:
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English clearly to follow safety instructions, read gauges, and communicate via radio. - Basic Math & Problem Solving:
Solid commonsense problem-solving skills and basic arithmetic skills for monitoring equipment gauges and operations.
- Physical Work:
Comfortable standing, walking, stooping, climbing, and performing physical checks. Ability to frequently lift/push/pull up to 25 lbs and occasionally up to 50 lbs. - Work Environment: 100% outdoor working environment inside heavy equipment cabs equipped for weather conditions (excluding lightning storms).
- Noise & Elements:
Standard field/facility environment with exposure to moving mechanical parts, loud noise, weather, dust, and vibration. 100% of the time.
